Researcher biography

Dr. Thomas Harris is a physiologist and herbalist who conducts research at The University of Queensland in the field of herbal medicine, n-of-1 trials and single case experimental designs. He is currently a practicing herbalist in Brisbane where his clinic focuses on mental health, chronic sleep problems and female reproductive issues. In 2009, he completed a PhD at The University of Queensland Centre for Clinical Research examining the role of global physiological changes in the neonate and subsequent effects on the brain. Since then Dr. Harris has undergone further training in the field of herbal medicine and is interested in all aspects of complementary and alternative medicine and enhancing the evidence base by which these medicines are used to treat chronic conditions. His current research interests lie in identifying the best approaches to treatment in the field of clinical neuroscience, for example sleep, pain and fatigue - with a particular focus on herbal medicines.
