Researcher biography

Associate Professor Butler obtained his B.Sc.(Hons) majoring in chemistry in 1988 and a PhD in natural product chemistry in 1993 from the University of Melbourne. After postdoctoral work with Prof Pettit at Arizona State University (1993-1994), he worked in a series of industrially-focussed, natural product lead discovery and drug development organisations: Queensland Pharmaceutical Research Institute (QPRI, now part of GRIDD), Griffith University (1994-1999), Centre for Natural Product Research, Singapore (1999-2002) and MerLion Pharmaceuticals (2003-2009).
