About Dr Marin Schweizer

Dr Marin Schweizer

Marin Schweizer, PhD is an Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Iowa and an Investigator at the Center for Access and Delivery Research and Evaluation at the Iowa City Veterans Affairs Health Care System. 

She currently serves on the leadership team of the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) Research Network. She was an author on the SHEA Hand Hygiene Compendium and the SHEA White Paper on Quasi-Experimental Designs. 

She received her PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Maryland. Her research interests include preventing and treating healthcare-associated infections, specifically surgical site infections and S. aureus bacteremia. 

Her current grants focus on decolonizing patients to prevent S. aureus infections, as well as de-implementing unnecessary (and potentially harmful) tests and treatments.
