The Nasal Microbiota Transfer

Testing a nasal microbiota transfer therapy in patients with chronic sinus infections who do not have nasal polyps

Chronic sinus infections place a significant burden on quality of life. Recently our team undertook a promising study where we gave 25 chronic sinus patients a nasal rinse containing nasal microbiota from healthy donors. The patients’ sinus symptoms decreased significantly after receiving the nasal microbiota therapy. We are now testing the nasal microbiota therapy in a clinical trial comparing it to placebo.

Eligibility

This treatment option is currently being trialled in adult patients who have chronic sinus infections lasting over 12 weeks without nasal polyps and have had previous sinus surgery.
