Infection and Immunity

This research area links background data on bacteria with new approaches to identify risks and treatments for infections that are resistant to antibiotics.

The results have substantial impacts globally, given the rapid speed of antibiotic resistant bacteria. We focus on the below research areas:

  • Prevention and treatment of infections with antibiotic resistant bacteria
  • Developing tools to effectively control infections
  • Development of new antibiotics to treat current infections
  • Development of measurements to assess patient outcomes
  • Economic costs of treatment for antibiotic resistance bacteria
  • Analysing organisms important to public health
  • The spread of antibiotic resistant bacteria in communities
  • Developing surveillance systems for antibiotic resistance
